Toby Joseph had resigned from his position as executive vp global sales for all business class carrier Eos Airlines.
A statement by the airline said Mr Joseph wished to "pursue personal interests."
Mr Joseph, a stalwart of the business travel industry, told BTE that after a year and a half of weekly commuting between London and New York, he was "looking for a well earned rest."
"I very much enjoyed my time with Eos. When I joined it had one flight a day to New York and it is now moving onto to four a day and is the undisputed market leader in its category.
"I shall now be pursuing a number of opportunities but will almost certainly stay in the travel industry."
Before joining Eos, Mr Joseph, 48, was among the founders of TQ3 Travel Solutions. He worked for the travel management company for five years as global chief operating officer, leaving after the company was taken over by BCD Holding in early 2006.
He also worked 15 years for Carlson Wagonlit Travel.
