Paragon Europe, the umbrella organisation representing eight travel managers' associations, has welcomed changes in the Automated Targeting System (ATS) process for travellers to and from the US.Under new rules from the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), travellers will be able to correct wrong information about them gathered under the scheme. This new Traveler Redress Inquiry Program (TRIP) will be introduced on February 20.Previously the DHS and the US Custom and Border Protection (CBP) authority refused any appeal against data collected on travellers and reserved the right to retain such information for 40 years. Numerous organisations in the US, Canada and Europe protested against the ATS process. These included the EU and Paragon which expressed "deep concern" about it. Paragon which requested a "simple redress procedure" and said it had now "noted with satisfaction" that the DHS had reacted quickly.Paragon Europe said it would continue to "monitor the situation" and has asked for travellers to send it details of any of their experiences under the ATS.
