AIRPORT CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEES in the UK are busy now digesting new Committee Guidelines issued by the Department of Transport in the wake of the 'Future of Aviation' White Paper in December. Most UK airports are obliged under the Civil Aviation Act to run such a committee where users of the airport, local authorities and local organisations can talk to the airport's management about matters "which affect their interests". As expected the Guidelines underline the need for Committees to publicise their work more widely and in anticipation of this the Liaison Group of ACCs last year launched a new website. This provides detailed information not only about the new Guidelines but also on current airport issues at national and EU level. Formed in 1980 the Liaison Group comprises the officers of the committees at the 22 largest UK airports.
