BCD Holdings said its new global travel company formed from the amalgamation of WorldTravel BTI, TQ3 Travel Solutions Management Holding and The Travel Company will be called BCD Travel.
BCD described the new agency as a "global travel logistics company" which will operate in 96 countries, have 12,000 employees and an annual sales figure of $12bn.
Mike Buckman, currently ceo of WorldTravel, was confirmed in the same role with the new company which will have its headquarters in Amsterdam.
Members of the new executive team are: Ilona De March, EMEA and India (presently managing director TQ3 Travel Solutions Germany); John Snyder, North and South America (presently coo WorldTravel BTI USA); Stephan Baars, chief financial officer (presently cfo TQ3 Travel Solutions); Melanie Garrett, marketing (presently global vp marketing TQ3 Travel
Solutions); Ralph Manaker, mergers and acquisitions (presently president WorldTravel BTI USA), Dee Runyan, product and technology development, global supplier relations and
ASPAC (presently executive vp WorldTravel BTI USA); Tom Barham, Treasury (presently cfo WorldTravel BTI USA); Mike Walley, UK and Ireland (presently ceo The Travel Company); Mary Ellen George, sales and consulting (presently executive vp sales and marketing WorldTravel BTI USA).
BCD said that Marc Hildebrand, ceo of TQ3 Travel Solutions, will leave the company but, for the rest of 2006, will join BCD Holdings as a senior adviser on acquisitions.
Toby Joseph, chief operating officer of TQ3, left the company last earlier this month.
The company said it owned operations in 27 countries and affiliates in the remaining 69 countries.
It said it was market leader in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark and ranked in the top five in the US, the UK and Italy.
A statement by BCD said: "The company will shift the focus from straightforward travel management services to being the leading provider of travel logistics.
"BCD Travel will simplify and streamline the travel process by using a single, intuitive technology infrastructure that centralizes access to travel content from the growing
number of suppliers and distributors, setting it apart from the competition."
The transactions under which BCD is acquiring TQ3 and The Travel Company will be completed on March 30, Mr Buckman told a press briefing.
