BRITTANY FERRIES” new flagship, the Mont St Michel, entered service during the week before Christmas. This 34,000 ton, ”80m cruise ferry is the largest ever purpose-built cross channel ferry and introduces new levels of luxury. Carrying up to 2,200 passengers and 800 cars, the ship has four restaurants, two bars, two cinemas, a shopping mall, an infants” club, and for the first time special teenagers” area. Up to 800 people can be accommodated in 215 cabins. The ship will be used on the Portsmouth ” Caen service, with the quickest scheduled crossing taking just six hours, although the 2230 departure is more relaxed and does not arrive until 0600 in the morning.
