Lufthansa reported an operating profit of more than 1bn of the first nine months of 2007.
The 1.1bn gain was a 57% increase on the figure for the same period last year.
A statement by the German carrier said that high oil prices, the "turmoil" on international finance markets or the competition had not had any effect on Lufthansa.
Wolfgang Mayrhuber, chairman and ceo, said he expected a 1.3bn operating profit for the full year.
In the first nine months of 2007, Lufthansa's revenue rose 9.3%, compared with last year, to 16.4bn while traffic revenue rose to 12.7bn, an increase of 9.8%.
Operating expenses rose by 7.6% to 16.3bn.
The figures for the last three months also included those of SWISS which is now fully integrated with Lufthansa.
Amadeus to launch UK rail tool next year
GDS and IT company Amadeus confirmed that it plans to launch its domestic UK rail booking tool in mid-2008.
Elaine Seeto, Amadeus's UK director of marketing, said a team of 50 was now working on the tool which would be ready for testing in the first quarter of 2008.
She said the UK platform will be the basis of a wider tool which will, in the near future, be able to book rail in the UK, Europe and worldwide.
Ms Seeto said this new software would be "an incredible saving of time and better productivity for agencies."
Amadeus said it had signed an agreement with Harry Weeks Travel which markets the Evolvi rail booking software for corporates which can be used by customers when the current tool ELGAR is phased out from the end of this year.
Ms Seeto said that Amadeus would also be making the Purple Parking airport parking service available through its booking platform from this month (November).
