Duncan Tribute explains
”You have two sides, one out on the field and the other in.
Each man in the side that”s in goes out, and when he”s out he comes in, and the next man goes out till he”s out.
When the side that”s in is all out, the side that been out comes in and the side that been in goes out and tries to get out the side that”s coming in.
Sometimes you get men still in and not out when the side that is in is finally out. When both sides have been in and out, including those who are in and not out, that”s the end of the game.”
And whist on the subject of knocking the opposition for six Cathay Pacific is further improving its superb cabin service (initially at least in first and business class) with Video on Demand, part of the Studio CX flight entertainment system, which allows passengers to view a particular film at any time, stop it, start again, and even search backwards or forwards for an item. Great. CNN supplies the news. That”s fine too. But here it goes wrong. Included in the package is the weather. It”s not much good the man on the TV telling us that ”it”s not raining in Tokyo” or a ”hurricane is happening in Havana” when you are flying from Hong Kong to London. Whoever is responsible please cut the weather part out! It is wasted. After all the captain is bound to make an in-flight announcement, ”Ladies and gentleman. Welcome to Cathay Pacific. I do hope you enjoy the flight. It”s currently raining in London but the forecast is sunshine in 12 hours time”. He could have added that someone at the other end actually told him so. And that”s a fact!
(Before we get emails to say Video on Demand is old news we are aware that 20 years ago Virgin offered a Sony video walkman in the then new Upper Class. It was a fine piece of equipment for the time with somewhat restricted viewing and a habit of falling off ones lap at a crucial point. It would run out of battery power too).
Very finally a maiden over in cricket is one where no runs are scored. And if you don”t know what runs and scores are buy Wisden!
