Stena Line says that its High Speed Service (HSS) has returned to duty on the Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire route, following a refit.
The HSS Stena Explorer will now ply the Irish Sea after its spruce up at Belfast”s Harland & Wolff shipyard, that saw a ”1.17m ($2.29m) refurbishment, including a new seating area at the rear of the craft.
At 99 minutes, Stena says its crossing is the fastest from Wales to Ireland, with the refit following coming after its break between January and March.
”We are delighted to have her back on the route,” said Stena Line route director, Vic Goodwin. ”The Stena Explorer plays an important part in helping us to maintain and strengthen our position as market leader on the Irish Sea”.
Carrying 1,500 passengers, the Stena Explorer also has capacity for 350 cars and/or 50 lorries and offers two return trips per day between Holyhead and Dun Laoghaire.
The company has ten ferries operating across five routes, including Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire and Dublin Port, Fishguard to Rosslare, Stranraer to Belfast and Fleetwood to Larne, accommodating three million passengers per year.
