Travellers booking online with UK travel management company Gray Dawes Travel will soon be alerted if a better flight deal than the one they have becomes available.
The "best buy check", which is one of several enhancements built into the software by its self booking technology provider KDS, will become available sometime this quarter.
Colchester-based Gray Dawes said: “Increased visibility of missed opportunities for corporate cost savings will be displayed during the booking process, notifying users of how much money they could be saving the company by booking alternative travel routes.
“This kind of ‘visual guilt' will make the user think twice about purchasing the more expensive options.”
It claims the upgraded system will also make it easier for corporate customers to build premium economy into the travel policies.
It will also enable travellers to book flights incorporating a combination of classes. These improvements look calculated to reflect a current tendency by firms to insist staff book economy on westbound transatlantic flights but allow them to return overnight in premium economy.
A further change will allow travellers' home addresses in their profiles, allowing them to arrange for rental cars to be delivered there.
In a separate development, Carlson Wagonlit's HARP hotel database has been integrated into KDS's online booking technology. The move enables staff employed by CWT's clients to book over 125,000 properties worldwide.
The database stores best available rate, those secured by the travel management company and those specifically negotiated by customers.
Meanwhile KDS has struck a deal with Avis allowing its customers direct access to the car rental giant's central reservations system.
The link, which will enable travellers to book cars within corporate policy, will also become available some time before the end of next month.
