French hotel enjoyed a record year in 2007, hotel analysts Deloitte said.
With the figures for December still to come in, the consultants said that all sectors of the market had seen an increase in revenue per available room (revPAR).
Upmarket and mid-market hotels in Paris has enjoyed "a solid growth trend with double digit increases in room revenues", Deloitte said.
Most of the properties had seen a rise in both average daily room rate and occupancy levels.
Four-star properties in Paris saw their occupancy rise from 74.4% in 2006 to 78.4% last year while room rates rose from 424 to 4488.
Occupancy at three-star hotels rose from 82% to 85.7% while room rate increased from 130 to 140.
* Accor, the leading French hotel chain, said its hotel revenue for 2007 rose by 7.8% to 5,830m compared to 2006. It upmarket properties like Sofitel showed a 15.1% increase in revenues from 2,927m to 3,370m while revenues form its economy brands outside of the US rose by 6.1% from 1,592m to 1,618m. The group said the revenue figures reflected the upturn in the European market since 2005 which had led to improved occupancy rates and higher average prices. It added that "dynamic pricing" and its "marketplace policy" had also increased revPAR.
Lufthansa adds new all business service
Lufthansa is to expand its business class only network by adding a new service between Munich and Dubai.
The new route will open in June with a daily flight from Munich except on Tuesdays.
The aircraft used on the route will be 48-seater Airbus A319s, currently being used on the Dusseldorf-Newark and Dusseldorf-Chicago all business class flights.
Lufthansa is planning to replace the A319s on these routes with A340-300s which will be re-configured into three class sections.
The change from all business class is part of the airline's policy, begun in 2003, to expand its services at Dusseldorf Airport.
