HOLIDAYS are all the talk as the UK rushes forward to that period when the schools shut to give teachers a rest and parents a busier time than ever. This has given an excuse for the cleverer marketing people to come up with ideas to make sure that their company or organisation is kept in the mind”s eye. Europ Assistance, in truth an insurance company, have issued what they call ”top tips” for making the trip easier. Some are just common sense. ”If you take medication on a regular basis, make sure you take enough supplies to last the length of your trip.” Some are dire warnings, ”do not leave your luggage unattended in public areas. Do not accept packages from strangers”, whilst others, it could be said , are nothing more than a plug for the company. The Heathrow Express has surveyed 300 customers and come up with a most unusual list of what it calls holiday essentials naming an electric toothbrush as number one, followed by a wash bag, clean underwear, a camera and then a mobile phone. ABTN reckons a large bank balance should head the list but would be pleased to hear from readers on their requirements. [email protected]
