BA announced it would launch its new OpenSkies airline in June with daily flights from New York to Paris and Brussels.
One aircraft, a Boeing 757 will be used flying from the US alternatively to Brussels and Paris CDG.
A second aircraft will be added later in the year but will fly from New York to an as yet unnamed EU city.
The plan to eventually to operate six aircraft on selected routes by the end of 2009.
The 757 will carry 82 passengers in business, premium economy and economy classes.
Willie Walsh, BA's ceo, said: "This is an exciting new venture for us and we're confident that it will be a great success as we build on the strength of British Airways' brand in the US and Europe.
"By naming the airline OpenSkies, we're celebrating the first major step in 60 years towards a liberalised US/EU aviation market which means we can fly between any US and EU destination. “It also signals our determination to lobby for further liberalisation in this market when talks between the EU and US take place later this year."
The managing director of OpenSkies will be Dale Moss, a former director of worldwide sales for BA.
Eurostar passenger figures hit record
Passenger numbers on Eursotar, the high speed rail service between London and Brussels and Paris topped 8m for the first time in 2007.
It carried 8.26m people during the year, a rise of 5.1% on 2006.
The train operator which moved to new London headquarters at St. Pancras in November, said sales also reached a record level, rising 15.5% from £518m to £599m.
Eurostar also said business travellers increased with tickets sales for its business class rising by 11.9%.
It said the volume of business tickets sales had now risen by 31.4% since 2005.
Eurostar said the move to St. Pancras from Waterloo had both shortened journey times from London to Brussels and Paris and opened up the high speed service to "millions more people in the UK."
Richard Brown, Eurostar's ceo, said: "The launch of Eurostar services on High Speed 1 has begun a new era in short-haul travel between the UK and mainland Europe.
"The impact has been immediate: Eurostar's faster services, shorter travel times and carbon neutral journeys are winning over more travellers from the short-haul airlines."
