ITM says that its 2008 chair will be current Yahoo! international travel manager, Caroline Strachan.
Current chair, Mark Avery, said: ”The last 18 months have seen ITM take many strides forward and while I”m looking forward to seeing through the remainder of my two-year term in office, I”m delighted to be handing over the baton to someone as enthusiastic about the Association and industry as myself.”
Strachan comes replete with an impressive CV, including 16 years in travel management as both a supplier and buyer. Key roles were with American Express Groups & Events, divisional head of BTI UK Groups & Meetings Division, Cisco Systems EMEA travel operations manager and presently overseeing Yahoo”s Europe and Asia-Pacific travel management, across 19 countries.
”Having admired the work of the Association from the sidelines, I am delighted to now have the opportunity to add to ITM”s knowledge bank and to drive positive change,” she said.
ITM executive director, Paul Tilstone, also praised Avery”s tenure in the hot seat and welcomed Strachan”s forthcoming appointment. ”Caroline was chosen because she embodies the spirit of ITM and her experience with TMCs, travel technology and meetings management, are all aligned with the changes we are experiencing in the industry,” he said.
