Travelport and Sabre have started offering access to Qantas’ new paid-for seat selection via their global distribution systems (GDSs).
The Aussie airline last month started charging passengers for choosing their seats in advance via its own website.
The addition of Qantas’ Advance Seat Selection product to Sabre and Galileo’s GDSs means travel agents can now pay for preferred seats as part of the flight booking process.
Andrew Middleton, Qantas’ VP of supplier services for the Asia-Pacific region, said: “We have worked closely with Qantas to support this new initiative and we’re pleased to offer our subscribers global access to the new Advance Seat Selection capability.
“This collaboration also supports our ongoing work with airlines to enable the sale and distribution of ancillary services via the GDS.”
