Amadeus has launched a number of projects this year which, it claims, demonstrates its corporate social responsibilty leadership.
As part of its technology transfer initiative, Amadeus is helping nearly 3000 hotels in Brazil “that do not have the economic resources nor expertise to distribute their products through professional sales channels.” The initiative has been expanded to cover the rest of South and Central America and Africa, with another 1000 hotels expected to take advantage.
It is also donating 300 computers for use in travel and tourism colleges in countries as diverse as Saudi Arabia, Nigeria and Nicaragua.
Amadeus’ CSR initiative runs under the strap line “Travel Further’. It is also involved in a number of educational initiatives, which ranges from basic computer literacy courses to e-learning for agents.
Finally, Amadeus’ core technology products are also being positioned as having environmental as well as bottom-line benefits. Finnair used the Flight Management module of Amadeus’ Altéa Departure Control System to help reduce unnecessary fuel burn, CO2 emissions and fuel costs for the airline.
