SNCF Voyageurs names Alexandre as Intercités director

Magali Alexandre, who joined SNCF Group in 2018, will now oversee its regional rail service

French rail operator SNCF Voyageurs has named Magali Alexandre as director of its long-distance Intercités division. Alexandre replaces Amandine Thomas-Commin, who was appointed as managing director of Ouigo Spain in November.

Based in Paris, Alexandre joined the SNCF Group in 2018 as part of the HR team and was promoted to HR director in 2021. Since 2022, she has overseen the group’s internal shared services division, Optim'services, which provides payroll and administrative support, offers social work and healthcare services, and organises business travel for SNCF employees.

In a statement, SNCF Voyageurs said Alexandre’s appointment comes at a time of “significant growth and expanding market opportunities”. The regional rail network in France was opened to competition in December 2019, and SNCF Voyageurs secured a contract in early 2025 to operate the Bordeaux-Nantes and Nantes-Lyon routes.

Intercités services carry more than 12 million passengers annually across more than 150 destinations, according to SNCF.

Additionally, Alexandre serves as a part-time lecturer in law and political science at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
