French rail operator SNCF Group has appointed Amandine Thomas-Commin as the new CEO of Ouigo Spain.
Formerly the director of SNCF Voyageurs’ long-distance Intercités division, Thomas-Commin will replace outgoing CEO Hélène Valenzuela, who will step down at the end of the year after seven years at the helm.
SNCF’s Ouigo high-speed service entered the Spanish market in 2021 and currently connects 15 destinations across the country. According to SNCF, Ouigo Spain is set to achieve positive EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) in 2025.
Commenting on her appointment, Thomas-Commin said: “Ouigo Spain is a fantastic company that I am very proud to join. Having achieved profitability, we have a responsibility to further consolidate our offering in the Spanish market and to introduce high-speed rail to even more travellers.”
Ouigo Spain president and director of TGV Intercités, Alain Krakovitch, thanked Hélène Valenzuela for “her commitment and determination”, adding that the arrival of Thomas-Commin marks “a new chapter” for the rail company.
