A new chief executive has taken over Cologne-based Eurowings
as former boss Thorsten Dirks steps up to a role on the Lufthansa Group executive
board.
Jens Bischof has also become chairman in the handover.
Bischof was previously CEO of SunExpress and has more than 30 years’ experience
in the Lufthansa Group. From 2006 to 2011 he ran the group’s passenger business
in North and South America.
Dirks is now responsible for IT, digital and innovation as a
member of the group’s executive board.
Speaking at the official handover at Cologne/Bonn airport
this morning, Bischof commented: “In just a few years, you have made Eurowings
the clear number two in the country next to Lufthansa, the largest German
holiday airline and one of the leading point-to-point carriers throughout Europe.
Today, 28 million customers a year fly with Eurowings – and they have been
flying super punctually with significantly increased customer satisfaction for
months now. All of you in this room have my highest appreciation for this
development.”
