Trenitalia owner FS Group has appointed Gianpiero Strisciuglio as CEO and general manager following the resignation last month of former chief executive Stefano Antonio Donnarumma.
Strisciuglio, who most recently served as CEO of Trenitalia, has also joined the company’s board of directors. Other board members include Pietro Bracco, Franco Fenoglio, Silvia Marzot, Loredana Ricciotti and Daniela Rota, alongside newly appointed chairman Tommaso Tanzilli.
The new FS Group board was appointed for the 2026–2028 term following a shareholder meeting on Monday (13 July).
In his new role, Strisciuglio has been granted responsibilities and powers “in line with those held by the previous management”, according to a statement.
As chairman, Tanzilli will oversee internal control and institutional representation, FS Group said.
The reshuffle at Italy’s state-owned national railway holding company was prompted by Donnarumma’s early departure. He resigned on 30 June, alongside board members Tiziana De Luca and Caterina Belletti.
According to media reports, leadership at subsidiaries Trenitalia, RFI and FS Logistix remains in place on an interim basis pending new appointments.
