Corporate Travel Management has appointed Chris Walters as sales manager of its specialist MICE division, Event Travel Management (ETM), following record post-pandemic growth, the TMC announced on Thursday.
The appointment is part of a wide-ranging recruitment drive as the company reports increased demand for events, with enquiry levels now at – and exceeding – pre-pandemic levels.
ETM Europe general manager Mike Leeson said Walters, who is based on London, joins the company at a “pivotal time”.
“[Chris’] experience and expertise will be integral in building and executing our growth strategy, raising the profile of the ETM brand in Europe, and bringing new customers on board,” he said.
“We’re seeing record numbers of enquiries and confirmed business – a great mix of new business wins and increased activity from existing clients – and our financial H2 (January – June 2022) included our two biggest-ever months in terms of TTV performance,” he added.
The TMC said it is restructuring the team in a “scalable” way in an effort to manage growth and maintain client service levels.
“Over the next 12 months we’ll be putting a lot of focus on developing our client-facing technology and growing our creative events and SMMP offerings,” Leeson said.
With more than 15 years’ experience in the MICE sector, Walters said he looks forward to “supporting ETM’s clients navigate the ever-changing landscape of the events world”.
