Kensington Palace has opened a new temporary events venue that will stay in place for the next three years.
Historic Royal Palaces, the charity that runs the London attraction, has built the temporary Kensington Palace Pavilion on the palace's lawns as a replacement venue to The Orangery, which has closed for planned conservation work.
The pavilion, which overlooks the palace’s sunken garden, was launched last week when 300 guests, including event planners and media, attended a black tie dinner.
As well as being able to host 300 people for a sit-down dinner, the pavilion can also host up to 800 people for a standing reception.
Alex Donnelly-Palmer, events and operations manager at Kensington Palace, said: “The event perfectly showcased the versatility of the pavilion and how it can be transformed for extravagant events, while incorporating the storied history and traditions of Kensington Palace.
“Following the closure of the Orangery for vital conservation work, we are delighted to be able to offer this one-of-a-kind venue for exclusive and memorable events, whether a gala dinner, evening reception or product launch.”
Historic Royal Palaces operates six venues around the UK including the Tower of London, Banqueting House in Whitehall, Hampton Court Palace, Kew Palace and Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland.
All clients booking events at the Kensington Palace Pavilion will help to support the charity’s work to conserve its properties and ensure they remain open to the public, as well as offering educational opportunities.
