Travel and meetings sustainability consultancy Greengage Travel and Event Solutions has launched a directory of selected hotels and meetings venues that can demonstrate an eco-friendly service approach.
The ECOsmart directory focuses on rating properties in five key areas: energy & water conservation, waste management & recycling, rooms & facilities, food & beverage, and corporate & social responsibility. Properties appearing in the directory are graded from bronze to platinum.
In its first phase it will focus predominantly on eco-friendly independent hotels, aparthotels and meetings venues.
Andrew Perolls, the company’s CEO, says the time is right to launch a corporate-focussed sustainable network.
“Whilst Covid absolutely dominated the corporate agenda in 2020 there is evidence that, with a vaccine-enabled end in sight, companies will be placing more emphasis on sustainability in business recovery, including sustainable travel and event solutions.”
He added: “We want to help equip hotels and venues with a competitive green advantage, ready for when the market starts to bounce back.”
