Free roaming in the US
Telecommunications company WorldSIM is set to launch its "revolutionary" dual UK-US sim card next month, making it free to receive oversees calls in America.
WorldSIM already offers free roaming in more than 55 countries, but this is will be the service's debut in the US.
Transatlantic business travellers will no longer have to swap between US and UK phone numbers as the pay-as-you-go service provides both on one sim card.
The new offering will bring call charges in the US down to the same level as Europe.
"This will really appeal to corporates as an innovative way to reduce travel costs," said Malika Jaffer, WorldSIM's business development manager.
"The amount of money spent on call charges can often equal that spent on air tickets."
The data enabled sim will provide real time online itemised billing, useful when calculating expenses, plus call forwarding, call recording and automatic credit top-up.
WorldSIM's director Arif Reza said the sim's launch at the CTIA Wireless 09 technology event in Las Vegas next month will showcase its "dual UK-US functionality and capability."
The cost of the new sim is yet to be finalised. Ms Jaffer said it was likely to be similar in cost to WorldSIM's current non-US service, which starts at £35 per card including credit.
Last month, WorldSIM won a gold innovation award at the Business Travel Show in Earls Court, London, for its pay-as-you-go free roaming service.
