Key Travel, the TMC which specialises in the charity sector, has more than doubled staff numbers in Washington since launching there a year ago.
Key Travel bought Washington-based World Travel Management to expand its business in the non-profit, faith and voluntary organisation sectors.
The subsidiary has since more than doubled staff numbers at the office from five to 12 and increased revenue by $2 million. Key Travel handles clients including Oxfam and the Aga Khan Foundation.
Steve Summers, Key Travel's CEO, said: “We have been surprised at the low levels of awareness of humanitarian fares and the savings that can be made on travel spending when they are used.
“We have been helping non-profit organizations in the UK and Europe to get the most out of their travel budgets for decades. We believe there is huge potential to extend our services in the US and ensure that charities, faith and voluntary groups get value for money.”
Key Travel will now embark on a series of exhibitions and speaking engagements throughout the US.
“We look forward to making further inroads into the sector,” said Summers.
