Travel management company Travel Counsellors has reported a significant rise in new agents in the last three months with a growing trend in employees joining from a corporate travel background.
The company, which has more than 850 agents across the UK saw a 54 per cent increase in travel professionals joining the firm.
Travel Counsellors said that business travel is now one of the fastest growing areas of the company, explaining why it has seen an “increasing trend” in agents joining from the corporate travel sector.
“We have got off to a flying start this year in terms of sales and those looking to enjoy the rewards and benefits of running their own home-based travel business as part of the company,” said managing director Steve Byrne.
“On average each agent has increased their earnings by 12% since the start of the year, which shows the power of what talented travel professionals can achieve when given the tools, support and technology to deliver an exceptional level of service to their customers.
“We are also seeing substantial growth for corporate travel, which now accounts for 26% of global sales, with 15% of those that have recently joined the company specialising in this field,” Byrne added.
The company operates in the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Belgium, South Africa, Australia, Canada and Dubai with global sales for the financial year end (31 October 2014) at £428 million, an 11 per cent increase on the previous year.
