More than two thirds of travel buyers (68%) have no green purchasing policy, a new survey released today (December 12) has revealed.
A questionnaire by the Business Travel Show (BTS) found that only 32% of buyers had a policy on going green although only 12% have plans to expand it.
Of the majority who do not have a green buying policy, 19% said they planned to introduce one but 12% said it was not viable in the current economic climate while 37% did not regard it as a priority.
BTS, which runs the annual Business Travel Show in London in February, quizzed 252 buyers for its survey.
It plans to run a Masterclass at the show on Sustainability – Where to Now?
Event director David Chapple said: “Whether you are five years into the ‘greening’ of your travel programme or set to introduce an environmental dimension for the first time, travel managers need a lot of help on this challenging journey.
This Masterclass allows buyers to swap best practices and learn the latest thinking on green buying.”
