Hogg Robinson Group (HRG) has announced a technology partnership with Sabre to trial its mobile application Tripcase.
HRG, a global travel management company (TMC), is trialling the mobile technology with a number of clients in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia.
The application allows Blackberry, iPhone, iTouch, Google Android and Windows Mobile users to access their travel information on the go. It can be used for air, hotel and car booking information.
HRG's client's travel plans will be fully integrated into Tripcase, allowing the TMC to communicate with travellers after they have booked and during their trip.
Saggar said: "HRG's aim is to enhance the whole traveller experience. TripCase is an innovative solution which enables us to provide timely and useful alerts and appropriate information via mobile devices."
The trial is expected to last around three months, after which the TMC has plans to roll out Tripcase globally, although HRG has not yet confirmed whether it will levy a fee to its clients for use of the technology.
Tripcase first launched in the managed travel arena with an app for Omega World Travel in February.
HRG admitted they had taken "slightly longer" than some other TMCs to take up the technology.
Paul Saggar, HRG's director of technology product development, said he wanted to make sure that they picked the right product, rather than just jumping on the bandwagon.
"What we've done is taken slightly longer just to make sure we pick something that delivers what our customers need, and that is secure and backed by a big player," he said.
"I think we're in a position here where there's a lot of hype around the whole mobile scenario and at the moment there's a lot of ‘me too'.
"However, I think what will happen is, certainly during our pilot programme and over the next few months, we'll become more focused on what those applications really do, what value they bring.
"You'll find in a year from now you're going to get a bunch of applications that are established and that really do add value.
"We are going to go through a curve, where you'll see lots of people doing lots of different things. You'll look back in a year from now and 80% of them won't be there any longer."
