Recruit from Law Society
The UK Guild of Travel Management Companies (GTMC) today (September 14) named its new ceo as Anne Godfrey.
She will take over from Philip Carlisle who is retiring at the end of the year after 13 years in the post.
Ms Godfrey joins the Guild, the UK's major body for TMCs, from the Law Society where she was director of law society services.
During her spell in this post, Ms Godfrey increased the Society's income by 12%, its membership by 15% and sponsorship by more than 200%.
Before joining the Law Society, Ms Godfrey worked for six years as commercial director for the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) where she was responsible for membership services and raising revenue.
While at the CBI, she increased revenue by 24% over three years and delegate numbers by 35%.
Her career has also included working in publishing in sales, marketing and business development.
Maurice Veronique, the GTMC's chairman, said: "Anne was the outstanding candidate from 134 applications for the position.
"Her strong CV, past achievements working with membership organisations, her intellect and personality made it easy for the interviewing panel to make a unanimous decision that she was the right person for the job."
Ms Godfrey said: "I am delighted to be joining the GTMC at such a challenging and exciting time for the business travel industry.
"I look forward to working with the Board, members and partners to ensure that the GTMC is viewed as a modern, relevant and value for money membership body."
She will take up her position on October 1, working alongside Mr Carlisle and attending her first GTMC conference on October 7.
