Eurostar, the high speed rail operator between London and the continent, suspended its services today (September 12) after a fire in the Channel Tunnel.
Travel plans of thousands of people, were disrupted after the train company said ”it does not expect” to run any services today.
The fire broke out yesterday afternoon on a freight train about seven miles into the Tunnel from Calais.
Rescue workers led 32 people to safety, including 14 suffering from minor injures.
Firefighters said today that the fire was now out.
Eurostar said it did not know when services would resume and advised customers booked to travel this weekend to check first on www.eurostar.com.
The company said further updates would be issued as the situation became clearer.
