Cuts from mid-December
Eurostar, the cross channel high speed rail service, is cutting a number of underperforming trains from its winter schedule.
The cuts from December 13 will affect services from London St Pancras to both Brussels and Paris.
A spokeswoman for the firm blamed the "tough economic situation" for the cuts which, in the case of Brussels, will see capacity cut by 10%.
"It means we must cut costs and operate as efficiently as we can."
Between Monday and Friday the number of trains running between London and the Belgian capital will fall from 10 to nine a day. Weekend services remain unchanged.
In the case of London-Paris the current maximum number of daily trains will be cut from 19 to 18 between Monday and Friday.
The Sunday service remains unchanged but there will be one fewer train on a Saturday.
In an email to Eurostar's loyalty club members, the firm's commercial director Nick Mercer writes, "As you will see (from the winter timetable) we have made some changes to our services, slightly decreasing the number of trains we run on some routes."
"We recognise this may cause inconvenience for some travellers. However we have done all we can to maintain the most attractive timetable possible, only removing trains when demand is already low while upholding our usual good level of frequency at peak time."
