Reducing cost remains the top priority for buyers in 2015, according to a study from the ATPI Group.
The survey asked senior decision makers attending the Business Travel Show what their concerns were with regards to the travel requirements of their business in 2015.
It found when analysing cost reduction buyers will look first at traveller behaviour, secondly at advance air bookings and then reducing overall travel.
The other priorities for buyers in 2015 are safety and security, traveller satisfaction, flexibility and improving travel policy.
“Addressing cost savings remains the number one concern for business travel decision makers for the third year running,” said the ATPI Group managing director UK, Adam Knights.
“This isn’t a surprise when almost all business are striving to be more efficient, however what is interesting is that clear and relevant travel policies are increasingly important as part of the overall saving strategy.
“A fit-for-purpose travel policy can change traveller behaviour through greater understanding, leading to a more efficient booking and decision making process," he added.
ATPI said the appearance of traveller satisfaction in the list of top priorities is an interesting development that suggests organisations understand that policies must be developed in consultation with their travellers.
The TMC added that companies must also consider direct and in-direct costs within their programmes.
ATPI questioned 68 travel buyers at the 2015 Business Travel Show in London.
