Cityflyer has announced plans to increase capacity on its Scottish routes by nearly a quarter.
British Airways’ London City (LCY) airport-based subsidiary will up flights to both Glasgow and Edinburgh from May 2.
Cityflyer will add a fifth daily return service between LCY and Glasgow, plus an eighth daily Edinburgh flight.
The expansion means an additional flight will leave LCY at 8.50pm and Edinburgh at 7.45am – taking the total number of Cityflyer flights departing Edinburgh before 8am to three.
The combined increase will see Cityflyer’s capacity between London City and Scotland grow by more than 23%.
Luke Hayhoe, BA CityFlyer’s commercial manager, said: “Our new late evening flight from London City at 8.50pm, will give business customers the opportunity to extend their working day should they need to do so.”
The additional Glasgow flight will leave the Scottish city at 7pm – the expansion will be good news for Glasgow airport, after Bmi pulled its London route from the airport last month.
Richard Gooding, London City airport’s CEO, said: “We are pleased BA is increasing its capacity on their vital link to Glasgow and Edinburgh which will further benefit passengers travelling to Scotland.”
