Virgin Atlantic to challenge British Airways on the London-Ghana route Ghanafrom May 24, according to the Travel Trade Gazette.
The report said the airline planned to fly three times a week to Accra from Heathrow, although it has still to get government approval.
The service is already a popular with business travellers working in the country's oil and gas industries.
British Airwaysflies daily to Accra while Ghana Airways also flies four times a week from Gatwick.
"We think there is definitely room for three carriers," said a Virgin spokeswoman.
