Virgin Atlantic and Delta have extended their codeshare agreement within North America following the official start of the two airlines’ transatlantic joint venture on January 1.
Virgin's VS code now appears on a further 91 internal US routes operated by Delta, with an additional eight codeshares to be added in summer 2014.
The 91 additional Delta routes carrying the VS code all depart from Atlanta, Boston, Detroit or Minneapolis. The move doubles the number of Delta-Virgin codeshare routes to 180.
The eight new codeshare routes to be added this summer all depart from Seattle and include a new Delta service to Heathrow launching in March.
In November, the two carriers revealed how they will align their services at Heathrow ahead of the introduction of their co-ordinated transatlantic schedule which starts from March 30.
