Virgin Atlantic is to raise capacity on its Heathrow to Vancouver route next summer.
The carrier, which will operate the seasonal service from May 22 to October 11, 2014, will add flights on Sundays from May to August, taking the total number of weekly services from four to five in the peak season.
Virgin, which began the route in summer 2012, said that the extra flights would add another 2,000 seats to the British Columbian city next summer.
Edmond Rose, Virgin’s director of airline planning, said: “The North American market has always been at the core of our business. Our Vancouver service has been proving popular since its inaugural with demand remaining high throughout the summer months. Since its launch we’ve flown 17,214 passengers to Vancouver.
“We currently run a seasonal service four times a week from Heathrow to Vancouver and we are delighted at its popularity. To meet this demand we have taken the decision to introduce a fifth weekly service next summer.”
