VIRGIN QUEEN could have been the name of a new Airbus 340-600 named by Queen Elizabeth II in Toulouse last week, but after some discussion the reference to HM”s famous ancestor was not used, presumably because aircraft had not been invented at that time. ”Queen of the Skies” joins a whole list of Virgin Atlantic aircraft including African Queen, Indian Princess and Atlantic Angel that carry the airline”s ”flying lady” logo in homage to aviation”s golden era. ”Queen of the Skies” is a three class aircraft, is powered by four Rolls-Royce Trent 500 engines, and can carry up to 311 passengers up to 7250 nm.
