Stansted airport grew its passenger traffic by 25 per cent last month marking its busiest February since 2008.
The airport saw around 1.47 million passengers pass through the terminal in February 2015.
The number of passengers flying from Stansted in the year rose to 20.6 million, an increase of 2.6 million passengers and 14.4 per cent over the previous 12 months, the highest annual rate of growth at any major UK airport.
Stansted managing director Andrew Harrison, said: “The rapid growth in passenger numbers and the increasing support we are seeing right across the region for improved rail services between Cambridge, Stansted and London, clearly demonstrates the vital role the airport can and will play in supporting economic growth and activity through better international connectivity and access to overseas markets.”
Stansted announced last week it is targeting more long-haul services as part of its £260 million investment programme.
The airport said the investment is needed to attract more passengers, airlines and long-haul flights to the airport.
