ORLY PARIS: The spare landing allocations made available by the demise of Air Lib have been allocated by COHOR the slot co-ordinator for Paris airports. 43 airlines had requested a total of 251,000 new slots per year. 35,000 were available and easyJet applied for 20,000 gaining 7,300, easily the second largest allocation. The biggest allocation went to Toulouse-based budget operator A”ris, which gained 7,612, while Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Express received 5,840. Brussels-based Virgin Express said it would use the slots to open three new routes from Orly to Bordeaux, Rome and Toulon, as a first step towards setting up a new hub at the Paris airport. COHOR said the French government had exercised its right to 20% of the vacated slots, which would be used to ensure continued links with Corsica and France's overseas territories. Air France, which is based at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, was awarded 3,440 Orly slots, one-third of which were allocated to its regional subsidiary, Brit Air. http://www.cohor.org
