Southampton airport is to lose its connection with Frankfurt from the autumn.
The link, operated by Flybe, will cease on September 10. It is thought competition from Lufthansa’s double daily service from Gatwick, which started last October, has damaged Flybe’s market for the route in the south of England.
The withdrawal means the airline will have no services to the German hub, as it dropped flights from Manchester and Birmingham to Frankfurt last year.
The news comes as the carrier marks the tenth anniversary of the Flybe brand.
