Singapore Airlines is boosting its Indonesia services from July with daily flights to Surabaya and increased frequencies to Jakarta and Bali.
The airline will take over one of two daily Surabaya flights currently operated by regional subsidiary Silk Air from July 26. SIA will operate 285-sear Airbus A330s on this route, thereby increasing capacity on the route by 48 per cent.
On the same date, the carrier will begin a ninth daily service to Jakarta and a fourth daily service to Denpasar (Bali).
Meanwhile Silk Air will launch services to the Indonesian cities of Semarang and Makassar in July and August.
Subject to regulatory approvals, Silk Air will offer thrice-weekly flights between Singapore and Semarang from July 29, and thrice-weekly flights between Singapore and Makassar from August 1.
These new services will be operated with Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft, featuring both business and economy class cabins.
Lee Wen Fen, SIA's acting senior vice president marketing planning, said: "The Indonesian economy is growing and this has increased demand for both business and leisure travel.
"Indonesia is an especially important market for the SIA Group, as demonstrated by SIA’s new services to Surabaya, our additional flights to Bali and Jakarta, and SilkAir’s new services to Semarang and Makassar."
Last month, SIA acquired a further 9.9 per cent of Virgin Australia, increasing its total stake in the airline to 19.9 per cent.
