QATAR AIRWAYS launched its ”Oriental Express” service to Shanghai and Seoul on 29 October 2003, thereby becoming the first Middle Eastern airline to service South Korea.
The two cities became the airline's 43rd and 44th international destinations. Qatar Airways will use one of its brand new three class Airbus A330-200s to service Shanghai and Seoul. The airline recently signed an order for 34 additional Airbus aircraft in a deal that will increase the fleet to 52 by 2008. It is also one of the launch customers for the super-jumbo A380-800, which will be delivered by 2009.
