Qatar Airways has launched an air shuttle service between Doha and Dubai.
The Gulf carrier will offer 18 daily flights between Doha’s Hamad International airport and both of the Dubai airports.
Fourteen of these flights operate into Dubai’s main international airport while the other four use Dubai’s newer Al Maktoum International facility.
Special check-in areas are being made available at Doha airport along with speedier immigration facilities.
Members of the carrier’s loyalty scheme will earn double Qmiles when taking Shuttle flights until July 31.
But the new services are not just of benefit to point-to-point passengers. They will also make the transfer process easier for those Dubai travellers who are taking either regional or long-haul flights with Qatar Airways via Doha.
However, Qatar Airways’ shuttle differs from the famous British Airways shuttle of the past in that, unlike BA’s shuttle which was “turn up and go”, passengers have to book a seat.
Earlier this week, Qatar announced services to the US cities of Atlanta, Boston and Los Angeles starting next year.
