Qatar Airways has been taking part in the inaugural b2b London conference onBusiness and Sustainable Environment - base - designed to tackle issues on sustainable business management.
As the founding airline partner, Qatar Airways was among leading international companies taking part in the two-day event at London's Excel Centre, where it participated in conference sessions and hosted a VIP hospitality lounge.
The event, aimed at strategic decision makers in both the public and private sector, brought together politicians, CEO's and senior management from blue chip companies, such as Unilever, Oracle, Lloyd's and Hewlett Packard, as well as smaller businesses.
Among those who attended were the UK's Labour's Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Hilary Benn; Shadow Chancellor & Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats, Vince Cable; Labour's Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Ed Milliband, and many more senior delegates ranging from high level non-government organisations to government officials from the world of climate change.
Qatar Airways' Senior Manager Environment and Fuel Optimisation Captain Chris Schroeder addressed a panel session, ‘Protecting and Enhancing your Brand' alongside senior representatives of the Virgin Group, Good Business, Unilever and Futerra.
Schroeder discussed the importance that sustainable initiatives have for a brand, referring to the carrier's successful operation of the first ever commercial passenger flight using gas-to-liquids jet fuel and the company's continued research into the development of bio fuels.

During 2010, Qatar Airways launches seven new routes.
The airline began daily flights to the southern Indian city of Bengaluru (Bangalore) last month. It plans to serve Copenhagen from March 30; Ankara starting April 5; Tokyo from April 26; and Barcelona on June 7. The Doha-based airline will enter the South American market for the first time this summer with flights to both Sao Paulo in Brazil and Buenos Aires in Argentina. Dates of these two new routes will be announced in due course.
