Transatlantic budget carrier Norse Atlantic Airways will launch a new route between London Gatwick and Miami International Airport on 18 September, the carrier announced on Thursday (1 June).
The Oslo-based airline, which secured a UK air operator certificate (AOC) last year, recently expanded operations at the London hub with new services to Washington DC, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Orlando and Fort Lauderdale scheduled for the 2023 summer season.
This is in addition to a daily service between Gatwick and New York’s JFK airport, which commenced last summer.
The new direct service to Miami will operate four times weekly on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft throughout the upcoming winter season and will supersede the carrier’s Gatwick-Fort Lauderdale route, which launched last month.
Travellers booked on the Fort Lauderdale route after 17 September will be rebooked onto the Miami service or offered a full refund, according to the carrier.
Bjorn Tore Larsen, CEO of Norse Atlantic Airways, said: “We are pleased to be able to now offer the popular destination of Miami as part of our winter route network. Miami has high levels of passenger demand with both direct and connecting traffic volumes greater than other airports in the region.”
Norse Atlantic is also stepping up its operations from continental Europe with flights between Rome Fiumicino and New York JFK airports due to start this month. Rome will become the airline’s fifth European route to New York in addition to services from Gatwick, Oslo, Berlin and Paris.
