From October 30 Lufthansa will start twice-daily flights between Gatwick and Frankfurt.
The German airline already serves Frankfurt with flights from London City and London Heathrow airports.
Flights from Gatwick will leave every day at 9.50am and 5.40pm, arriving into Frankfurt at 12.25pm and 8.15pm respectively.
From Frankfurt, flights will leave at 8.45am, arriving into Gatwick at 9.10am, and 4.25pm, arriving at 4.50pm.
The new route will be operated using a 120-seat Boeing 737-500 aircraft in a two-class configuration (business and economy).
Marianne Sammann, Lufthansa’s general manager UK and Ireland, said the new route would mean a 14% increase in the number of flights to Frankfurt from London.
“The opening of Frankfurt Airport’s new runway in time for the winter schedule is considerably enhancing capacity which,” she added.
“With a total of 111 weekly flights to Frankfurt from London Gatwick, Heathrow and London City, Lufthansa is offering the greatest number of flight frequencies between these two cities.”
