Flyglobespan, the Scottish airline who will launch a daily service from Liverpool John Lennon to JFK New York in May, have confirmed a decision to include the programme into the winter schedule, with flights now available up to early January 2008. As with the summer service the airline will be offering three classes of travel ” economy, Economy Premier Service Upgrade and business class.
Flyglobespan chairman Tom Dalrymple is delighted at this early extension to the programme and commented: ”We have been very pleased at the initial reaction to our decision to fly daily from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to New York. Since the first news of our flights, there has been considerable interest and very encouraging responses from both sides of the Atlantic.” Later on this year a decision will be made regarding making the service available 52 weeks of the year.
”This early decision to extend the daily flights into our winter programme underlines our belief in the potential of the route ” and we look forward to a steady increase in booking activity right up to our May launch.”
Flyglobespan”s Chairman believes that securing advantageous landing rights in and out of JFK airport has added to the attraction of the flights.
He explained: ”When we launched the route last year we had provisional slots for Newark, but when the opportunity came up to go in and out of JFK that was too good to miss. I think it is a far more convenient airport for New York travellers. For a start it is the city”s main hub airport with the best selection of onward flights.
”It has excellent links to and from Manhattan with particular advantages for business travellers. They have the option of a downtown Manhattan check-in and a helicopter straight to JFK.”
