British Midland International will start serving free cake for elevenses and afternoon tea on UK and Ireland flights.
Between 10am and 12pm, and 1.30pm and 5pm, the airline will offer passengers with flexible economy tickets a slice of Victoria sponge, lemon drizzle and carrot cake.
When cake is off the menu, Bmi has also announced it will start offering a complimentary hot food service for all economy class passengers on European flights.
Joerg Hennemann, Bmi's chief commercial officer, said Bmi would be the only scheduled airline to offer a complimentary hot food service in economy class on European flights.
“We have listened to what our customers want and their valued feedback has helped us to deliver new changes to our menu,” he said.
Hot breakfast wraps will be served on morning flights departing before 10am, while over lunch time (12-1.30pm) and from 5pm onwards other hot wraps will be on the menu.
