Leeds Bradford airport (LBA) has raised its drop-off fees by 50 per cent but have provided a ‘free one-hour parking zone’ close to the terminal building.
The charge for the express car park, located outside the main terminal, has increased from £2 to £3 for up to 30 minutes.
To counter the new charge the airport has introduced 100 spaces available for free for up to one-hour in the mid-stay car park located around 4 minutes walk from the terminal entrance.
“The free one hour parking zone provides all passengers with the option to drop off and pick up free of charge for stays of up to 60 minutes,” LBA said in a statement.
“The facility is clearly signposted on entering the airport, and benefits from an upgraded walkway for pedestrians and a dedicated and convenient new entrance from Whitehouse Lane,” it added.
According to a study by website Airport Parking and Hotels last year, only six of Britain’s 24 airports allow drivers to drop off and pick up directly in front of the main terminal building free of charge.
