Kuwait Airways has signed a deal with Airbus to purchase 25 planes and lease 12 others, the carrier has confirmed.
The contract means the state-owned airline will buy 15 A320neo and 10 A350-900 planes, and lease seven A320s and five A330s.
Delivery of the purchased planes will commence in December 2019 with the leased aircraft arriving in December 2014.
Kuwait Airways, which already operates three A320, three A310, five A300 and four A340, said the agreement was an “essential part” of its growth plans.
“The A350-900 will strengthen our long-haul route development while the A320neo will further boost our regional route network,” said Kuwait Airways, chairman, Jassar Al Jassar.
