Kenya Airways has signed a codeshare agreement with Spanish carrier Air Europa to extend its reach across Europe and the US.
The agreement will see Kenya Airways deploy its code on four Air Europa routes: Amsterdam to Madrid, Madrid to Palma de Mallorca, and Madrid to both New York and Miami. Meanwhile, Air Europa will place its code on Kenya Airways flights between Amsterdam and Nairobi.
Benefits for travellers include the purchase of a single ticket, a single check-in and connections “with minimum waiting times”, according to the carriers.
“We are excited about this partnership as it will provide our guests with more convenient travel options to Europe and the United States,” said Martin Gitonga, Kenya Airways head of network planning and alliances.
“Air Europa has been our partner under the SkyTeam Alliance, and this agreement allows us to collaborate more for the mutual benefit of our guests giving them more access and connectivity.”
Air Europa's director of alliances Estelle Leray added the partnership will allow the carrier to “significantly expand our reach in a region with growing demand”.
